Hello Monday

Happy Monday!  It's windy and rainy and really cold today here in Michigan, but I'm secretly, and oddly, loving the coziness of the day.  The kids are back in school today after last week's craziness of President's Day, two snow days for an ice storm and a random 2 hour delay.

We still managed to find some fun and over the weekend we headed to the suburbs of Chicago to visit with friends!

To start the week, Jane had her first virtual OIT appointment.  The entire process took just about two hours.  It's quite the commitment, but not having to make the long drive was well worth it!

On Tuesday, the girls snuggled with their Mama before school.  I'm so happy Jon took this picture!

Later that day Jane and I made a Reel over on Instagram about this Road Trip Snack Necklace and I managed to blog about it, too.

Later in the day on Tuesday, Henry made sure to keep the geese out of the yard by wearing his medals, an alarm, sporting a cape and attempting to have a Nerf Gun war with them.  LOL!  I love, love, love him being silly like this!

Wednesday ended up being a snow day and I was totally under the impression that we probably wouldn't have a snow day until Thursday, so we didn't have much food or much to do as my grocery shopping day is usually on Wednesdays right now.  We did our best and somehow got through the day!  Luckily I had some paint and a canvas or two for the girls.  Henry spent the morning working on an escape room for us. It was really fun to compete against Jon with all the clues!

Later in the day, I started to think of warmer weather and spring break.  I had the girls try on their new swimsuits and they looked super duper adorable!

Eliza has been crocheting a lot.  I have no idea how to do it, she taught herself and I've been really impressed!  She sat and watched tv and crocheted before heading to bed...love her. :)

Thursday was another snow day.  This picture explains my thoughts.  LOL!  It was too slippery to play outside and we didn't have anywhere to go.  The kids at this point had only been to school on Tuesday and the weekend before was a four day weekend, so I was definitely feeling tired by this point.

I felt like the kids were even growing a little restless.  I loved this view of them though.  My entire heart...and unfinished gallery wall...  *facepalm*

Later that night, on Thursday, I had a mom date scheduled, which couldn't have come at a better time.  Two other ladies had to cancel, but it was really, REALLY nice to catch up with Amy, Annie and Katy!

Jon was our DD so we made sure to have an extra drink or two.  ;)

Our local mural!

The next day, I had an appointment.  I've been so busy and kept putting this appointment on the backburner since before Jane was born, but I figured I best just get it over.

IYKYK...  ;)

We had plans to head over to see our friends, Josh and Christina, in Naperville, Illinois for the weekend.  We ended up pulling Eliza out of school an hour early, which stinks because of all the snow days but at that point I was ready to just get out of town, so we pulled her out early and hit the road.

I think the kids were excited to leave, too!

Coffees for the road!

We grabbed the kids some Culver's for dinner and look!  An actual allergy sign for sesame!  Good job, Culver's!

We arrived, got a house tour of their gorgeous home, visited for a bit and then the adults headed out to dinner.  It was mine and Jon's first time at a sushi restaurant!  Can you believe that?!  We've had sushi before but not at an actual all out sushi restaurant...and this was a fancy one, so Jon and I had NO CLUE what we were doing and it was either comical or embarrassing, depending on how you look at it.  LOL!  I like vegetarian sushi, so I opted for that option.  The drinks were absolutely amazing, too!

Friends since the first grade!

On Saturday I went to my first ever Orangetheory class!  I tried to keep up with Christina!  She was such an amazing workout buddy!  I earned 29 Splat Points - I don't even know what that means, but I was proud of myself, dang it!  Hahaha!

While Christina and I were working out, Jon and his friend, Josh took the kids to Urban Air!  They loved it AND I was able to see the kids in action at the end of the visit, which made my Mama heart extremely happy!

Their daughter, Sophia, then had a (birthday party to attend) a soccer game and their son, Reid, had a basketball game and soccer game later that night.  We went to both of their son's games!  LOL!  It was fun to be a part of the family for the day.  Bahaha!  Oh and Jane played with their dog, Rudolph, for hours!!!  I soooo wish I had a picture of Jane and Rudolph together!

Later that night we ate leftovers and then Josh and Christina had two other people arrive at their house (a cousin named, Lauren, and a best friend named Lauren) as they were passing through town and were offered to stay the night.  We drank champagne  (because why not? Ha!), we talked, they played cards and then we were all in bed around 10:30.  It was great!

The next morning we drank some amazing coffee, let the kids play outside for a bit and then everyone went their separate ways.

Phew, Jon and I were exhausted yesterday and we both slept pretty hard over the weekend, as well as last night!

We're starting another busy week, but I'm here for it - let's do this Monday!

Thanks so much for stopping by.  Stay warm out there, friends!

Marie :)

Friday Favorites- Favorite Beach Finds

Happy Friday and a busy one at that!  I’m currently blogging while on our way to the suburbs of Chicago to visit with friends!  The kids didn’t have school on Wednesday and Thursday and we woke up to a two hour delay this morning.  We had a big ice storm here in Michigan and some people won’t be getting power back until March 5th!  We never lost power, but our lights flickered a whole lot.  I had a Doctor’s appointment this morning and then headed back home to load up the car and grab the kids from school.

It’s so cold this week and I’m dreaming of warmer temps, so I thought I’d share some of my beachy favorites with you today!

I’m looooving this bag for our upcoming spring break trip and best believe I’ll be getting one!

I’m in the market for a new beach hat and I adore this one!

My back can’t take not having a beach chair these days… ‘nuff said. ;)

The kids loooove collecting shells and rocks on our beach vacations and I love any and all mesh bags for the kids.  We have quite the collection of beach finds!

I have this swimsuit and let me tell you, it’s extremely  flattering and it sucks it all in.  I’m 5’7” and 167 pounds, with a happy little mommy pouch and this suit makes it all smooth out, if you know what I mean….

I wore this swimsuit two years ago to 30A and I loooved it so much!  There’s a reason it has lots of good reviews!

I found these matching swimsuits for the girls at Walmart and they’re suuuuper adorable!  They’re selling out fast on the Walmart website and I could only link Eliza’s, but hopefully Jane’s swimsuit will be back in stock soon!

Off to our continued travels!  Thanks so much for stopping by!

I’m sooo ready for spring!

Road Trip Snack Necklace for Kids

 Hello, Friends!

With spring break coming around, I thought I'd share this fun idea that we love to incorporate into our travels - A Road Trip Snack Necklace for Kids!

Road Trip Snack Necklace, Trips with Kids, Traveling with Kids, Disney with Kids, Snacks for Kids

This is really easy and if your kids are a little older, they can help make these, too!

You'll need some string, I like to use yarn.  Some snacks with holes for threading aaaaand I like to use a little bit of tape at the end of said string to make it easier to assemble the necklace!

I opted for Cheerios, Fruit Loops, Life Saver Gummies and pretzels.

I added a little bit of tape to the end of the yarn and started to add the goodies!

This necklace is an activity in and of itself while traveling and snack spills aren't a problem!  Yay for that!

Jane absolutely loved her Road Trip Snack Necklace!

Have you ever made these snack necklaces?!  They could be great for waiting in lines at amusement parks, flights and/or a trip to Grandma's!

I'd love to hear what you think!

Thanks so very much for stopping by!

Hello Monday

 Hey, Hey, Hey!  Happy Monday!

This kids are off of school today, which is soooo nice.  However, we still have piano and Jane had her first virtual OIT updose appointment this morning.

Our week last week was full of lots of Valentine happiness and good days...

I've been working on making a gallery wall for this little spot in our home.  We really don't hang up many pictures and I'm feeling the need for some cozy photos.  We used to have a bookcase here, but with the piano also being in the room, it was starting to feel cramped.  So we moved the piano over to where the bookcase was and moved the bookcase to the basement.  I'm still playing around with this space and hope to get actual photos in those frames, too!  LOL!  I'm the queen of not finishing projects, so this is on my to-list this week!

Eliza and I finished up her Mary Poppins Valentine's box and we think it turned out really cute!  I realize this is a bit extra, but I was really surprised with how many kids didn't make Valentine boxes in her class!

I took our neighbor boy, Warren, and had an extra friend, Ashlyn, to take to school on Valentine's Day morning...

Jane had her preschool Valentine's Day party and girlfriend loaded up on the goodies and basically ate everything in one sitting.  LOL!

I was sad that parents weren't invited, but it allowed for me to decorate the kids' doors!

Jane and I were able to attend Eliza's Valentine's Day Party - it's soooo weird that Henry doesn't get these parties anymore...and it's even weirder that the last one I attended was when he was in third grade!

It makes me sad that I don't have a single picture of Henry from this day, but he left early for school and then was in a tweenager mood the rest of the day.  He wouldn't even wear a Valentine's Day shirt.  It made me so sad!  Usually Henry is very positive, but he was definitely feeling a little down.

Later in the day, Chick Fil A came to our town for a fundraiser and you bet your bananas I was one of the first people in line!  I even texted Jon that if he wanted me to be his Valentine he'd buy me Chick Fil A!  LOL!  No chocolates or card for me, I was soooo happy with Chick Fil A instead!!!

Eliza on the other hand...  Oh my gosh, I'm still cracking up over how much she was done being in line.  She's the one who wanted to go with me....all I can do is laugh...

Clearly she was thrilled...  Lawd help me through her teenager days...

I took several selfies with the best Valentine's gift ever!  Bahahahaha!

Throughout the weekend I ran and ran some more for a challenge I needed to catch up on - 50 miles of running by the end of the month.  I was able to log in just under 19 miles of running over the long weekend to catch up and I was super happy with that!

Also, it wouldn't be a basement workout without a child or a husband needing me...

That's it for over here!  Happy Monday, friends!!!

Thanks for following along!

Marie :)
