The Monthly Meet-Up – New and Improved

As you may or may not know, my girl, Sara from Great Days of Hayes and I have been hosting a monthly link up – The Monthly Meet Up.  Well, we got talking and decided to change things up a bit.  As a result, we’ll be hosting a new kind of party…
This linky party is all about, “goals.”

This time around, the party will take place the first of every month.  Same two hosts, same name, different theme.

Let me put on my best Saleswoman hat for a tick-tock second…
“Do you like to make lists?  Do you like to set goals?   Do you like reading other people’s goals?

Do you like to feel inspired and motivated?

Then this is the linky party for you!”

So get out your computer/phone/paper/pencil and put on your plaid shirt, leggings, boots and throw your hair up in a bun…oh and don’t forget your caffeine (or wine – we won’t judge) and let’s conquer our goals!

Just like anything fun, we’ve gotta have some rules.  Ours are short and sweet:
  • Follow us and link back to us!  We’d love to connect with you, and you to connect with each other!
  • We challenge you – visit, comment and follow at least four other partiers.  Are you up for the challenge?
  • By posting, you give us permission to feature an image or post on our blog(s).  We’ll always give you credit and post links back, don’t you worry!

Ready, set, gooooo!

Blogging Goals

This seems appropriate, right?

For quite some time now, I’ve wanted to buy my own domain, become self-hosted, and purchase a cute design for my blog.  However, I’ve always been too scared.

In fact, do you want to know something?  I’ve actually been blogging since the fall of 2012.  Yup, an entire other part of my life/blogging journey is neglected and lonely somewhere out there in the World Wide Web.

I started this blog at the beginning of this year as an attempt to change things up a bit.  I’m not entirely sure what I was attempting to do exactly.  I read an ebook, added Adsense, and have almost…almost hit the “purchase domain name” button soooo many times…but I never did.  All-in-all, it’s basically the same blog from before.  It’d be nice to incorporate both blogs into one big happy and cute blog, especially to reference pictures of the kiddos, as well as my older DIY projects.

I think I need this mug…

This mess of a space.

“No! No!  Wait.  Come back – please stay on my blog page!  I promise to make it better!!!”
So here’s the deal.  When Jon and I were designing our kitchen I really, really wanted some sort of cabinet in this corner, however I was told that it wouldn’t work…something to do with the front window being in the way.  As a result, we were left with giant nothing-ness over in the corner of our kitchen.

When the kids were itty bitty it was never an issue because we’d sometimes put their highchair over in the space, but as the kids have become older and there’s no longer the need for a cute highchair, it’s since become an eye sore.  This empty space is now home to a chalkboard (which is usually hung on the wall) and a receiver which currently has a gazillion wires spewing from itself.

The two cabinets next to the empty space consists of tape, glue, construction paper, scissors, etc (our kitchen table is our primary crafting/coloring/gluing residence).  At one point it was organized.  If you look closely, you can see that I once had a date with my label maker.  Long story short, it didn’t stay organized for long.

I’ve had enough with this disorderly way of crafting…and living!

Enter:  Target’s Threshold Bookcase Cabinet.

What do you think?

I love the rustic charm, but I must say that I’m simultaneously nervous and excited about it.
Although, I suppose I can always paint if I don’t like it after a few months!  LOL 😉

Our diet.
This is me eating an elephant ear:

The madness has got to stop!  Well, except for one more chocolate doughnut…or that brownie…or maybe that bowl of sugary cereal…

Okay, okay, I don’t think we eat too terribly, BUT, there’s always room for improvement.

We need to eat cleaner.  We need to eat healthier.

I’m looking forward to cooler temperatures so that it’ll perhaps motivate me to stay in the kitchen and cook more frequently.  Plus, I think it’ll be fun to get the kids involved in our “healthy meal preparation” and hopefully they’ll be a little more enthusiastic about eating cooked carrots.  *wink*

Exercise.

Welp, since we’re on the subject of health, I’ve decided that I need to sign up for a road race!  I don’t deal well with not having an exercise/running goal.  I just give up.  I usually train all summer for “the big run” and then I literally become the laziest person you’ve ever met.

No…Seriously.  Really, I’m not kidding.

I immediately become unhealthy, I eat my feelings, I watch every reality show on TLC and Bravo, and I lack energy to keep up with the kids.

Time to lace up!
