Eliza is 9.

Nine years ago yesterday, our sweet Eliza came into this world.

I remember being so happy the day Eliza was born.

We didn't know if we were having a boy or a girl.

I was happy being pregnant, I was happy while having contractions, I has happy during labor and I was happy in the days and years to come.

I remember coming home from the hospital and calling my parents a few days later to tell them how happy I was.  Eliza was next to me on the bed as I folded laundry and I just remember that moment of pure bliss.

It's been bliss ever since.

Eliza has provided all of us with a go-with-it kind of spirit.  She's brought noise into our home, and while sometimes it's been at the highest pitch, it was/has been the most beautiful shrieking I've ever heard.  I've always said that Eliza is so alive.  She's colorful.  She's opinionated, artistic, funny and caring.  She's a confident reader, she can water ski, snow ski, she learned to ride a bike and how to swim like it wasn't a big deal, she can bake and she does it well.  Girlfriend potty trained and never looked back.  She's quiet around others, but deep down she's in deep thought - she's got a fire in her.  In fact, on her first day of Kindergarten, Jon secretly whispered to me, and not to Eliza, "Give 'em hell, Eliza!"  LOL!  Of course we want her to be respectful to others and to be a good human, we were just excited to see what she was made of and she's showing us every day...

I'll tell ya', she's made of a whole-lot-of independence, empathy, kindness and she doesn't put up with others or herself being treated unfairly.  She's the kid that sticks up for herself and for others and I love that about her.  She knows right from wrong and she knows it well.

Girlfriend has always mispronounced words in the most confident of ways.  I try to write down what she was trying to say and the word that was used.  Nowadays, we correct her, but when she was smaller, it was THE best!

Jon and I also used to say that she was judging us with her eyes...and I still firmly believe this.  Her eyes say it all.  Her eyes tell a story.  You can see exactly what that girl's thinking through those beautiful blue-ish/green-ish eyes.

Eliza currently wants to be an artist/actress/singer/dentist/teacher when she grows up.  Ha!  Perhaps she'll do it all, perhaps she'll come across something that inspires her completely differently.

Girlfriend is intense.  We like to say that she's been intense since the day she was born.  She came out with the cord wrapped around her neck and it took a while for the purple to leave her face.  Thank goodness, she was completely fine, but it's as if the intensity began in the womb.

Her spirit is fierce.  Her fire is strong.  Her intensity is ever going.

We love this human with all of our hearts and we love what she brings to the table every day.  She makes us laugh and her actual belly roll giggles makes us laugh even more.  She's an amazing little girl.

We've loved every year and every season with our Eliza and recently, eight year old Eliza has been so much fun.  We're  excited to watch how her heart and mind will continue to grow.

We love you, Eliza Marie!  Always keep that fire - This girl is on fire!

Happy 9th Birthday, Sweet Girl!!!

Love,

Mom and Dad :)

Fourth of July Fashion Finds from Amazon

It's Friday!

I thought I'd come to you today with some Fourth of July attire for today's Friday Favorites!

I'm linking up with Andrea from Momfessionals and Erika from A Little Bit of Everything.

Being that it's Memorial Day weekend, the Fourth of July is just around the corner.

I know, I know... summer break is just beginning, but let's be real, we all know it's going to be here before we know it so we might as well order up a cute patriotic outfit or two. ;)

I love a good reason to dress up, especially when the occasion calls for fun!

Here I am a few months after having Jane back in 2019 in one of my favorite 4th dresses.

Oh my, look at my sweet baby Jane...

Oh, and look at those chubby little thighs...

I love that my sweet Janie so much!!!

Anyhoo, I digress.  :)

I'll be shopping right along with you because we're hosting a HUGE Fourth of July gathering this year.  We have friends flying and driving from all over and we'll have 14 kids here to help ring in the festivities!  With that being said, I'll more than likely need more than one patriotic outfit and...

 I'm. Here. For. It.

EEK!!  I'M SO EXCITED!

Let's shop!!!!

I'm now going through my house and thinking about all the ways to take this house back to it feeling like a cozy little lake house and it has me all sorts of excited!!

What's Up Wednesday

Hello, Wednesday!  It's nice to see ya!

I'm linking up with Sheaffer and Shay for What's Up Wednesday!

WHAT WE'RE EATING

We're about to be eating lots of s'mores!  Michigan has officially thawed out and we're ready for lots of nights around the bonfire!  I blogged all about this S'mores Caddy Station HERE.

As for dinners and meals, welp, we've been on the go so much lately that our meals have been all over the place.

In the meantime......s'mores.  ;)

WHAT I'M REMINISCING ABOUT

I've been thinking a lot about when I used to blog more about our home.  I love home decor and I'm not going to lie, this whole "Coastal Grandmother" vibe going around the internet is my thing and I'm here for  it.  I feel seen!  Ha!

WHAT I'M LOVING

I recently treated myself to a Mommy and Me photo session and I love these so dang much!

WHAT WE'VE BEEN UP TO

Eliza's Celebration of Learning Night...

Eliza's Birthday Celebration (we celebrated a little over a week early)...

Eliza's dance recital...

Kayaking...

Jane and I picked out flowers and she dressed to the nines to do so...

End of piano lessons for the year...

Henry's 5th grade recognition night.  More on this later next week.  We were so proud...

WHAT I'M EXCITED ABOUT

I'm soooooooooo excited for our upcoming camping trip and stay up in Glen Arbor, Michigan!  We leave a week from tomorrow and we can't wait to get up north!  Northern Michigan is absolutely gorgeous.  Although, last year, after a day of hiking, we saw a mama bear and her cubs...I'll be purchasing bear spray this year.  Yikes.

This rental has all the Coastal Grandmother vibes and well, I...I look like a true mom in the thick of it.  Hahaha!

I can't wait to watch this sunset again this year!

WHAT I'M WATCHING/READING

I'm not watching much at the moment.  I'm just not sure what to invest our time into.  I'll take any/all suggestions!

As for reading, I just blogged about what we've read with the kids and what we're excited to read with the kids.  I'd absolutely love it if you checked it out!

WHAT I'M DOING THIS WEEKEND

Eliza and I have a Girls on the Run event bright and early Saturday morning!  We'll be running a 5K and I rumor has it, there will be hair chalk and girly hasn't stopped talking about it!

Once we finish up with Girls on the Run, we're heading home for a quick neighborhood garage sale and lemonade stand.  Our neighbors are putting on their sale for three days, but I think the most we'll participate is for 4-5 hours on Saturday.

We then plan to get out on the lake and relax and then on Monday, we'll be celebrating Eliza on her 9th birthday!

WHAT I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT MONTH

Other than some much needed R&R, we'll be preparing to host multiple families for the Fourth of July weekend!  I feel like we've been prepping for months, which has been great because we're checking off so many to-dos on our to-do list from 2017 (Ha!), but there's still a lot to do!  We have families coming from California, Texas, Illinois and from different places in Michigan.

We're nervous and excited!

FAVORITE AMAZON FIND

My Father-in-Law wrote a book.  Actually, a trilogy!  Jon's read it and has said it's quite amazing.  My FIL has written other books in the past, but this seems to really have his heart.  I plan to read it this summer.  Jon gifted him a few items to go along with the theme of his writing, one being a mug with...ahem, well...quite a profanity, so I'll show the runner up mug that's still super cute and hilarious!

NOVEL MUG

My sister gifted me these chocolates and Jon just gifted them to his dad for his upcoming birthday.  They're delicious, so much so that I forgot to share mine with Jon...I mean, it was my birthday after all. ;)

Godiva Chocolates

Oh my gosh!  You guys, I found these cute ice cubes on Amazon and I'm totally planning on making fun drinks for all the kids for our Fourth party!  They come in blue, too!

Light-Up LED Ice Cubes

Okay, there you have it!

Thanks, as always, for stopping by!  I appreciate you guys so much!
