Life Lately

Happy Monday, friends!  Here we go with a Life Lately post!

This kiddo is missing his two front teeth and I'm just love-love-loving this look on him.

I try to capture these toothless smiles as often as I can...

We took the kids out tubing...again...

Here they are both finally standing up at the same time!

#rockstars ;)

We had one last hot summer-like weekend and the kids (and the neighbor boys), as you can see, used it wisely...

In the midst of the heat wave, Henry made his first peanut butter and jelly sandwich...

I know, I know - It's about time, right?

After fueling up on protein, we headed out to go swimming (the lake was surprisingly still warm for this time of year).

The kids were adamant that they move this huge mat by themselves...

My super-duper-amazing neighbor, Amy, and I ventured out on her paddle boat for one last ride.

It was her wedding anniversary on this particular day so we celebrated with some bubbly.  LOL!  Yes, you read that right, she and I celebrated her and her husband's wedding anniversary.

What a special day. ;) Ha!

This girl allowed me to kind-of/sort-of pick out her clothes for her last week.  My mother-in-law bought this shirt for Eliza for her birthday and I think it's soooo cute - I wish it came in my size...

It's a little wrinkled here because we had been sitting in the car...

What my days with Eliza consist of...

...I mean, I'm not complaining.  I'm just stating the obvious fact that keeping a four year old entertained throughout the day can be both, rewarding and exhausting...

It was Homecoming week over at Henry's school last week and day two of spirit day was wacky hair day.

I popped the collar, he struck the pose.

Oh.my.word.  The cuteness.  The cuteness, I say...

I saw these mats at the grocery store and I may just have to pick some up for Thanksgiving...

While at the grocery store, Eliza found some animal costumes.  We were originally looking at the dog costumes, but then turned the corner and found an assortment of cat hats.

Eliza picked out this unicorn hat.

Doesn't Nubs look dashing?

As you can see, he loves it...just loves it! ;)

Day three of spirit week was mismatch day.  This was the best we could do...

(P.S. Ignore my dirty rug)

You just looked at that dirty rug, didn't you?

Oh man.

Later in the week I had a little-bit-o-mom-brain going on.

See that tiny adorable human sitting next to me?

Yeah, her.

Remember, the four-year-old who demands my constant attention.

Have you ever heard of when a woman has a daughter that the daughter steals the mother's beauty?

Yeah, well, my brain decided to leave along with any beauty that I had consumed the exact moment Eliza entered this world, I mean, I'm not entirely sure of how much I ever had of either anyway (*nervous laughter*).  Ha!

Nevertheless, my brain has since been replaced with what seems to be a permanent state of mental fogginess and the only recognition of my own reflection is by the obvious silver and gray stray hairs, accompanied by some darker than dark circles and some luxurious crow's feet.

Mom brain AND wrinkles?  It's all worth it...  ;)  She's worth it.

Worth it because I get spoiled with gifts like this!

Umm...hello, one-of-a-kind, priceless jewelry!

This sunrise showed up last week...

Day four of spirit week was dress like a Disney character.  We opted for a Mickey Mouse shirt instead of a costume.

I threw together a quick home tour with a little help from my jewelry designer/design assistant...

Homecoming was last Friday and, of course, we were wearing our spirit wear, so every picture had to be edited...ugh.

This fella' is showing off his elementary school shirt...that you can no longer see, but, hey, you get the idea...

One of the kids took this picture of Jon and me.  It was a dark picture, so I had to brighten it up and cover our shirts.  This blog has seen better days with its photo quality and editing, but we don't get many pictures of the two of us together so I had no choice but to edit it and document it here on my little corner of the internet.

Parade time...

BTW - Henry wasn't grumpy in this picture.  When I asked him why he didn't smile, he replied, "I was trying to be cool."  Gah!

Then he became a six-year-old again when he spotted the school mascot!

Whew.  Thank goodness!

After the parade, we headed over to the Homecoming football game!

Henry loved seeing and visiting a bunch of his friends and to make it even better, our mascot came over to visit the kids!

Girlfriend was rocking THE cutest pony and bow, but all of her rolling on the hill and playing with friends cheering quickly disassembled all of Mama's hard work.  A hair stylist I am not.

Messy hair and all, Eliza still looked pretty dang adorable if you ask me.  Love these kids so much!

What a great, great week and weekend we had!

Thanks for stopping by!

Marie :)

I'm linking up with blovedboston for Weekending.
