A Frozen Themed Birthday Party - Eliza's Frozen Birthday Party Recap

Let It Goooooo!  Let It Goooooooooo!  Sound familiar?

That's right, we threw our little Eliza a Frozen Themed Birthday Party - mostly a family gathering, but a party nevertheless.

FYI:  This is going to be a Frozen-themed-picture-heavy-all-over-the-place-type-of-post.

You've been warned. ;)

Let's start with my little munchkin nibbling on a cracker.  She's always eating.  Always.

Like mother, like daughter, I suppose!

The two pictures below were my best attempts at getting my children together for a photo.

Why, oh why won't they ever look at the camera and smile?!

...and wouldn't you know it, she's eating again...  Love her.

These two love each other so very much.

I had to laugh when I looked at this photo because Eliza's holding cheese in this picture.

She had obviously moved on from crackers to cheese.  So funny!

Sure, they won't smile and say cheese (well, perhaps Eliza would for an actual piece of cheese...I kid, I kid...), oh but when one is told to be a superhero...

...you be a superhero

Except Eliza, she's the Birthday girl - she decided to stay in Princess mode and that's perfectly okay.  :)

These pictures crack me up!

While opening gifts, Eliza received lots and lots of good stuff!  It was fun to watch her receive her own toys!

Oh and look at these adorable headbands that my sister, AKA - Aunt Kimmy, made for Miss. Eliza.  Aren't they the cutest?!

Elsa cape?  Check.

My mom, AKA - Grandma Liz, made this "Let It Go" cape, as Eliza likes to call it.  It's so sparkly and pretty.  Seriously, the talent!  Eliza has had to wear it every.single.day. this week and she has had to sleep with it, too.

...and as you can see, Miss. Eliza is also sporting her new socks, new flamingo dress (Old Navy) and new Supergirl hat!

 Love.

Let's rewind for a tick-tock-second and let me show you our food table (apparently I'm too lazy to have two separate blog posts).  #bloggerproblems  #iaintgottimeforthat

I knew I wanted to label the food.  I had originally planned to purchase Frozen themed food labels from Etsy.  However, as luck would have it, our ink and printer were not getting along, so I took it upon myself to design these food labels on Picmonkey and then I cropped them on our local grocery store photo department website!

Bam!  Done!

All the ideas for food came from various Pinterest pins.

Take a look and tell me what you think!

Welp, there you have it.  There's only one more birthday for the year in this little family of four and it's Jon's 35th birthday on June 13th!

Perhaps I can throw him a leftover Big Hero 6/Frozen themed party?!  I'm sure that hasn't been done yet!  ;)

Thanks for stopping by!

XOXO,
Marie :)

Rubber Band Spray Painted Vase

Today I wanted to share an incredibly simple and cheap project that I've been meaning to do for quite some time - A Rubber Band Spray Painted Vase.  Golf claps, please.

I'm sure you've seen this project on Pinterest - possibly here, here or even here.  All you need is a glass vase, some rubber bands and a can of spray paint.  I already had all these items on hand which meant this project was Freeeeee!

DIY - Rubber Band Spray Painted Vase - Family and the Lake House

As you can see - you just wrap the rubber bands around the vase as seen above.  You can straighten them out and make them flat if you want it to be absolutely perfect.  I did no such thing.  (Guys, I had 2.5 seconds to do this and to be honest, the imperfections haven't bother me, in fact I like it that much more!)

I ventured outside and sprayed on one coat of spray paint and DONE!

Easy.

Then, I had to decide where I was going to put the vase.  Welp, my fireplace mantel has been looking a wee-bit lonesome since Christmas, so the vase found a perfect home up on the mantel, next to my Hobby Lobby mirror.

I threw in some twigs from my front yard and BOOM!  Free again and done.

What do you think?  It always amazes me at how much of a difference a little paint can make.

What are you working on out there?  Any favorite free projects?  Do tell!

Thanks for stopping by!  Tell your friends.  ;)

XOXO,
Marie :)

Kitchen Range Hood Cleaner

"If you scrub long enough, it'll come out." -My Mom

Okay, guys, here's the deal - my range hood was looking nasty.  Nasty, nasty.  Seriously, I always tried to clean it, but nothing EVER worked.  Ever.  I finally decided to try using a Magic Eraser, the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser Kitchen and Dish Scrubber, to be exact.  Now let me say, this isn't even a sponsored post - however, I may have to email the Magic Eraser company to tell them, "Thank you!"

Family and the Lake House - How I cleaned my Kitchen Range Hood

Here's what you'll need to purchase, that is, if you don't already have these items on hand.

(Click on the photo to take you to the source):

Here's what I did:

Step One:

Apply a small amount of dish soap onto a warm damp rag or paper towel then apply to the hood.

Step Two:

Cover it well in a circular motion.

Step Three:

Scrub off all that nasty grease and whatnot with the Magic Eraser.  I also put a tiny amount of water on the Magic Eraser, this seemed to help even more.

Do you see the difference?!

Wipe it clean and TADA!!!!!

Look how shiny and pretty!

I'm thrilled to have a nice, clean and shiny range hood again.  It looks brand new!

How do you clean your appliances?  Tell me your secrets!

*This worked well for me.  However, not all hoods are the same, so be careful out there, people.  Please be sure to use this in a small space before applying to the entire surface.

Happy cleaning!

Thanks for stopping by!

XOXO,
Marie :)

Mother's Day 2015

Hey all!  I hope you all had a beautiful weekend and a wonderful Mother's Day!

I thought I'd swing by the bloggity blog and share some pictures from our Mother's Day outing.

We had a great day!  I mean, who wouldn't with these two adorable faces...

Family and the Lake House

Jon made us reservations for brunch and I was beyond excited.  Plus, going out to brunch gave me good reason to pack away "the Mom uniform," AKA the good 'ole yoga pants and tshirt, for a day and sport a dress instead!  YES!

Anyhoo, our brunch was delicious and I'm pretty sure I ate everything with cheese, chocolate, and/or with cheese AND chocolate.  It.Was.Awesome.

The kids were great and they loved the food.

I still can't believe these two are mine.  I love them so, so much and I can't believe these two little humans call me their "Mom."  I'm beyond in love with them...

Henry is 4!

Gosh, four?  FOUR?  How can that be?

Oh my little Henry,

Our lives were forever changed the day you were born.

I can't believe a year ago yesterday you were still two.  Wow.  That makes me realize how little you were then and how little you are now.

You've brought us so much joy over these last four years.

You have a love for all things pipes, rockets, trucks and ropes.  You love to wear your "experiment shirt," your rocket shirt, your space shirt and your Superman shirt, of course.  You prefer khakis and/or any pants that are soft.  You despise jeans at the moment.

You love chocolate, ice cream, cupcakes and well, anything with sugar.  Except rice pudding and to be honest, I don't blame you.  You'll name every letter of the alphabet if it means you'll get a piece of a brownie.  You do, however, have a love for "little dinner meat" AKA ground turkey meat that we use in our tacos.

You still cry when I drop you off at "ffffchool" - guess what?  I cry, too.

I miss you when you're gone.  I really, really do.

You talk.  You talk a lot.  You are finally talking to your teachers, your friends, and other members of your family.  You are so BRAVE, my little Henry, and we're incredibly proud of you.

You're still taking naps and I've been lying down with you for four years now and I'm okay with that.  I know it won't be long now until the naps are gone.  I'll miss the sweet, silent cuddles that I soak up every time I lie down with you.  You're such a great cuddler...always have been.

Speaking of napping, you still make a sucking motion with your lips when you sleep and I love, love, love seeing it.  It always reminds me that you're still little.

You rock at mazes.  You love boat rides and Nubs the Cat, you love water parks, but you steer clear of the "big bucket that dings."  You love Bob Evans, entirely for the pancakes.  You like to wake up slowly and uninterrupted.  You eat peanut butter and jelly every morning.  You can write "MOM" and you can write half your name - In time...take your time, buddy...

You don't care for attention.  However, when you're at home you have some of the best dance moves the world has ever seen!  Seriously, you can dance.  ;)

You're an amazing big brother and you love your sister so much.  You're protective of her.  You love to give her kisses and tuck her in at nap time.  If she ever hurts herself, you immediately go to the freezer to get out frozen vegetables or an ice pack.  Speaking of which, you also love to apply bandages.

You're a helper.  You're a fixer.  You're a doer.

You are kind, soft spoken and sweet.

Your Daddy and I love you so much.  We love spending time with you.  You're funny and incredibly smart.  You have so much to offer to this world - even at the ripe old age of four.

Oh, Henry - We love you with all our hearts, to the moon and back, and always and forever.

Happy Birthday, Buddy.

Love,

Mama and Dad
